I’m pumped.
The first trailer for David Ayer’s Suicide Squad dropped today (after a San Diego Comic Con attendee decided to… speed up Warner Bros.), and it certainly does well in setting up a dark, deliberately paced world. The aesthetic is decidedly consistent with the idea of a team of supervillains, multiplied by the style that Ayer has become known for.
With a cast including Viola Davis, Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, and Jared Leto as a terrifying-looking Joker, on top of the aforementioned visual style, it’s safe to say that even if this movie ends up being a disappointment, it’ll certainly be an ambitious one. But why be negative when you can be excited? And with a first look like these, what’s not to be excited about? Watch the preview and see what I mean.
Suicide Squad will be released on August 5, 2016 in the United States.
