The teaser trailer for Fantastic Four seems oddly introspective, as if its voice-over, score, and imagery are trying to conjure up Nolan-esque, or, for lack of a better term, upper-tier blockbusters. Indeed, Philip Glass is listed as one of the film’s co-composers. A reboot of the Fantastic Four franchise, which was last seen on theater screens with the critically panned Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer in 2008, Josh Trank’s upcoming film features Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, and Jamie Bell as its titular quartet of superheroes.
I never knew much about the Fantastic Four franchise, but this preview intrigues me. I like all of the actors, and the movie looks to be going in an interesting direction. This looks to be worth checking out upon its release over the summer. The production design looks striking, and the cinematography and visuals stunning. We’ll just have to wait and find out whether or not the remaining aspects of the movie are able to be as equally impressive.
(Oh, and as for all the people complaining that Johnny Storm is being played by a black actor — grow up.)
Fantastic Four will be released in most countries on August 7, 2015.
